Recorded this one using my little Flip video recorder. Sound isn’t too bad. Seems to pick up the bass lines okay.
First (and only) coat of stain
Playing around with my new paint sprayer. I messed up. The garage floor is one big oily mess of redwood stain. The plastic sheeting I set down was a dumb idea. Didn’t absorb shit (obviously!), and I just slipped and slided across the little puddles I was making with the paint sprayer. Then I tried mopping it up, but that just smeared it around even more. FUCK.
I told the wife to avoid going into the garage for the next few hours (or days), but I don’t think she heard me. She was half-asleep and mumbling incoherently into the pillow.
Next item on the agenda: Need to find shelves.
Making another bookshelf out of wooden pallets
It’s time to make another bookshelf. My existing shelves are filled with books I have yet to read, and I’m getting tired of doubling them up on the shelves, so I scavenged a few wooden pallets that were sitting out near the dumpster at the company where I work.
I began work yesterday morning and started with this:
My sawzall made quick work of it all. Before I owned this wonderful piece of machinery, I used to pry each board and nail with a hammer and a crowbar. What used to take all day I now accomplish in an hour or so.
Got the end pieces I need:
The dimensions of the finished shelf are going to be about six feet tall by about four feet wide. Here’s how it looks so far. I’m thinking to hammer in a few cross-beams on the back for additional support.
I went to Lowe’s yesterday evening and picked up a paint sprayer. I’m going to stain it and insert some casters on the bottom so it rolls. Easier to manuever and move out of the way. Still need to find shelves for it. Maybe I’ll make those, too.
